The UK is not about to “suddenly shut the door” on low-skilled EU migrants, Brexit secretary David Davis has reiterated.

 

Davis said in a press conference in Riga, Latvia, that Britain wanted control over immigration but that it would only restrict free movement of people when it was in the “national interest”.

 

 

 

He said that it was not plausible that British citizens would immediately take jobs in the agriculture, social care and hospitality industry once the UK had left the EU and repeated comments made in Estonia on Monday that immigration restrictions would be phased in.

 

He said: “It will be a gradual process. That will take some time; yesterday I said it will take years.

 

“Don’t expect just because we’re changing who makes the decision on the policy, the door will suddenly shut: it won’t,” Bloomberg quoted Mr Davis as saying in the Estonian capital of Tallinn on Monday.

 

Davis said migrants had helped make the UK a strong economy. “We’re a successful economy, largely or partly at least because we have clever people, talented people come to Britain,” he said. “Even on the wider area, where we’ve got less well-paid people who have come to live and work in Britain, that will take time.”

I notice that just as the Lords are debating Brexit Tony Blair sticks his oar in and now more scare stories seem to be emerging especially from Junker. This just seems to me an attempt to try and influence the Brexit debates and given the timing seems a bit out of order.

If all this from him is true then what would happen if we then refuse to pay anything? after all these commitments of ours are not bound by law. Is this just a measure of how scared the EU are of the consequences of the UK leaving them?

 

The BBC are back in campaign mode. All day yesterday they were rolling out "experts" giving the usual scaremongering stats showing how worse off we will be. Usual biased discussions with all supporting remain.

It seems as if the government is having sensible discussions abroad, then coming back here and breathing fire and brimstone to keep the rabble happy.

 

You can be sure of one outcome, the average Briton will be a lot worse off, and the rich Britons will be a lot richer at the end of the day.

 

We will be left in the morass, the rich can move where life is good.

At a semi-educated guess, the EU would take the matter as a dispute to the WTO, for the WTO to adjudicate.

The EU isn't any more scared of the UK leaving, than the UK is of leaving the EU. Witness May's savaging in EU capitals after her recent and crass divide-and-conquer attempts.

 

Juncker is just window-dressing, matching the Leavers' rethoric like for like.

 

He's telling the UK that the EU will look after its own interests (entirely unsurprisingly) whereby the UK won't be "getting its cake and eating it": the UK will get what it manages to negotiate, and shouldn't expect any free meals.

Well most of the so called Experts have been wrong so far...many of them actually admitting it.
