Why are there no public toilets in sheffield?

Absolutely- it’s moaning for moanings sake.

ive never ever ever been in town and worried about going to the loo.

The council could pour money into toilets, which will doubtless be abused because they can’t be supervised 24hrs, then clean them and then repair them - or you could walk into Wetherspoons, Costa, McDonald’s wherever, who have a dedicated cleaner and which isn’t coming out of your council tax.

theres a reason there aren’t any council toilets anymore - they’re not necessary.

How lucky that you don't suffer from IBS, or have recently given birth, or have any number of conditions that affect your bladder/bowels, and that you're an adult male who has no qualms about walking into a pub or a bookies.

Re your comments on the council - strangely defeatist; the council could do it - they just choose not to.

Lots of people have IBS, bladder and bowel functions and cope.  It just takes a little planning, a little common sense, a little observation.

If you're in town for for work, shopping, dining, drinking, travelling, studying or leisure activities one will pass through multiple facilities available to them.

You're not going to tell me that all these unfortunate sufferers of these medical conditions are aimlessly wandering around the streets all day.

Yes the council could do it but they should not have to.   It is not a necessary thing in 2019 as there is multiple other provision available.  Our public finances are far better spent on other things rather than finding a solution to a problem that does not exist.

Ha - you’d be surprised.

are you suggesting toilets on every street corner - as that would realistically be the only way  you could cater for every circumstance.

your reply suggests I have suggested ridding the city centre of toilets - rather than not having the council provide them. You’ve also picked on pubs and bookies and forgot about McDonald’s / Starbucks / Atkinsons / Coles / costa / Burger King / M&S / Debenhams and any other of the myriad of places you can go to use the toilet. A provision far in excess of anything the council could ever realistically provide.

people don’t soil themselves in the town centre on account of the council not providing toilets.

don’t talk daft.

The terrible dearth of lavatories in the city centre is greatly discouraging to, particularly older Sheffielders, from travelling in to the Centre to shop or otherwise spend their money.  Closing lavatories is a deeply ignorant policy and will cost more in the long run in lost revenue and the poor health that develops with isolation.   What mean spirited people would deny the old and ill the right to use a lavatory? Absolutely disgraceful.

You have no evidence to back up that statement. Many people do soil themselves due to a lack of toilets. Or don't even bother to travel into the city anyway...why would they given the truama of finding somewhere to do a poo?

No I’ve not done a survey - do you have evidence that we have an issue with people soiling themselves in town due to a lack of council toilets?

as I said before - there’s loads of available toilets in town - so why is the lack of council toilets causing this issue - if indeed there is one - of people soiling themselves in town because there are no council toilets.

No one would - there’s loads of toilets for them to go to - why is there a dearth.

how many toilets do you want the council to provide to solve this issue?

What a load of rubbish.

Don't old people visit shops or pubs or cafes or libraries or the town hall or the galleries or the market hall or the theatres or the cinemas or the bus stations or the train station.

They must obviously walk by all those ample toilets available to them and just aimlessly wander around the streets all day.

What trauma??

Anyone with a brain will have the common sense to know the likely locations of public toilets in the middle of a city.

Round and round this thread goes with people desperately trying to demonstrate a problem that simply doesn't exist.

People are trying to create a false scenario of people wandering past a myriad of available Toilet facilities desperately trying to find a council toilet before failing and soiling themselves 😀.

daft as thar wants!!
