Ideal fishing area for beginner

Recommended Posts

Looking for a decent place to start fishing with my young lad. I have tried the Sheffield canal (bacon lane upwards) and also river don (newhall road). Wanting to try the Hillsborough area, also someone mentioned neepsend? Any ideas appreciated!:|

There are 2 pegs on the don at the side of the gardeners rest at neepsend. But if you have transport there are easier places to fish. The Don is pretty fast there. you might be better off with a Stillwater venue

Barlow fisheries between Sheffield and Chesterfield is good place to start. Lots of mixed fish there to go at.

Coarse pond at kjs at killamarsh. Tub of 4mm pellets a rod length out you'll catch all day.

In the Hillsborough area try Loxley fishery or Cow Gap at the top of Stannington, all you need is a pint of maggots and fish either top 3 if you have a pole or end of rod if that the method you use, Cow Gap is full of small silvers.
