apelike   10 #2 Posted September 22, 2016 First of all.. what browser, anti-virus/malware software are you using.
 Share this content via...
the_bloke   17 #3 Posted September 22, 2016 Are you seeing this when you connect to Sheffield Forum?  If so, it's because even though you are connecting via https, the page is loading two elements across http:  sheffieldforum.png noavatar.gif  The browser is just being helpful, as it isn't going to assume those elements (albeit only images) are safe or not.  If a site is using https, it shouldn't make a request to anything explicitly with http; a bit of poor development more than a security concern in this case. Ignore it (raise it with the helpdesk too if you want).
 Share this content via...

Cenobite   13 #5 Posted September 23, 2016 According to google, the most common cause of this problem, is that your date and time are not set correctly.  Check those first.
 Share this content via...

apelike   10 #7 Posted September 23, 2016 Seems like it could be a Chrome thing.  http://www.zerodollartips.com/your-connection-is-not-private-chrome/  Download Firefox and see if the same happens with that.
 Share this content via...
the_bloke   17 #8 Posted September 23, 2016 (edited) Hello apelike. the bloke, Thankyou for getting back to me, I'm a total novice with computers so any help is much appreciated. The browser I'm using in Chrome I have malwarebytes free version and Avast.I see your connection is not private on all the pages that I look at. alan p.  I actually think that Chrome now reports any site that you connect to without using https (and those which should be 100% using https but aren't, such as sheffieldforum) as 'Your connection to this site is not private' using an icon in the address bar to the left of the site URL.  Mine shows an icon in the address bar like an i in a circle on every site I connect to that doesn't have a valid SSL certificate or is using https but with insecure elements. Mouse over the circle and hey presto, the tooltip says the site isn't private. Which technically is right.  Edit: See http://blog.chromium.org/2016/09/moving-towards-more-secure-web.html  Unless you mean you go to every site and get a full screen warning and have to click on a button to proceed, then that's a bigger problem.  ---------- Post added 23-09-2016 at 16:36 ----------  Seems like it could be a Chrome thing. http://www.zerodollartips.com/your-connection-is-not-private-chrome/  Download Firefox and see if the same happens with that.  Not keen on some of those instructions there. They don't fix the issue, just make you ignorant of it by hiding the message. Edited September 23, 2016 by the_bloke
 Share this content via...

alan p   15 #10 Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) Hello auto98uk, I have checked the time and date and both are correct, I also looked on firefox for Sheffield forum and that said the site was only part encrypted. I have no idea what it means. Thanks for trying to help. alan p.  I have also noticed if I try to go into my account on Skype the screen goes black and a little black square face comes up and says untitled.
