WHSmith - town centre.

Recommended Posts

Apparently it is a structural issue, though I'm not sure of the details, or the extent of the problem. The width of the scaffolding in front of it would fit with that theory; it's several meters deep with loads of bars supporting the structure - not what you'd see if it was just access scaffolding for some painting/cleaning/renovation works etc.

Yes definitely a lift in far left corner. Small and old but definitely there.

Do any other 70s kids remember the disappointment of being given WH Smith vouchers at Xmas from somewhat distant aunts and uncles? Although they were better than Boots vouchers.

Did WHS not ensure the building's stability when buying it from Davies?

It was Davy's cafe before Smith's took it over.
