panchobar Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 it wasn't poor, we played some pretty good football but as the commentators said both defences were pretty much on top, you could describe 90% of goaless halves of games poor. Well as I have already said a poor first half in my opinion which was goalless a penalty shout which all the commentators said was bang on. I didn't watch the second half but three goals suggests more entertainment.

What makes a match poor, lack of chances - we had 3 or 4 good ones. Poor quality football - no there was some very good interplay and passing, lack of goals - that happens quite a lot. As the commentators pointed out both defences were on top up until the first goal, so two relatively evenly matched teams. I watched united v Gillingham on a lazy Sunday afternoon recently I could say the quality of the football in that was poor but they are not my team and its a fixture that only has passing interest for a neutral.

Call it how it is, if a game is poor, it's poor. Regardless of the team you support. The Blades vs Gills was very poor. I didn't see much entertainment in the Owls vs Brumby game Either in the first half. Some good play in both halves though, but overall not a great entertaining game

You seem to want to use the commentators when it suits you and dismiss them if it doesn't. I give an honest opinion on any game I watch regardless of who I support and that first half was poor compared to what I expected to see. As for United and Gillingham being poor I won't stop there as 90% of what I've seen of them over the last 3 years has been poor. So there you have it an honest opinion on both counts. NERVY-OWL Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 i didn't hear all the game so i don't know if it was a poor game or not all i know is we had clear chances to get more than the one goal and didn't take them and the two goals were preventable. i know maghoma is a poor player but we shouldn't be giving him the amount of time he got to put that ball in for the second and we defenately shouldn't be letting their strker ghost in between the two defenders. a bad day at the office but still better off than last season but i hope we start scoring a few to make up for the amount conceded.
green_man Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I thought the Owls were the better team personally in a pretty uneventful, poor first half but never the less they edged it whilst having very little to offer in the final third of the pitch. We watched a team with zero confidence fluff chances, it is as simple as that and whilst I feel that there is enough there to suggest a turn around....I don't for once minute see them lot as promotion contenders......I watched them enough times last season to see that they aren't performing as well!....And they can come and say that some opponent will eventually get a hammering and maybe but at the end of the day you will fluff half a dozen games inbetween! The key to promotion in that league is consistency and I don't think you have it in your team, it is as simple as that. And I keep hearing "wait until we get started, we are slow starters"......We are talking 8 games in, 720 minutes!......More than enough to start forging opinions! And whilst you are 3 points off you might remain slightly confident but look at what the contenders are doing..........Most 10 or so goals better off in goal difference already!.....2 last gaspers are all that have kept you in the running so far and without those you could even be sat down in the basement right now!......... You are average at best at the minute in a very good league, you have a shakey back four to say the least and the strikers are playing with confidence!
Futures Red Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I think they are too desperate to win and is causing them pressure... too much of... I know I've said this a few times but it's true, it's totally different compared to last season. The goal keeper was outstanding last season by all accounts however I'm told this season he looks nervous, possibly like Long? I think by all accounts, you actually have more points so far compared to this time last season... however I feel this is a little "dressed up" and not the true story. The real problem is that you don't appear as confident and I know this may sound strange but it looks like they are having an identity crisis too in terms of the right players gelling together to formulate a winning team (consistently).
