I've been meaning to start watching The Prisoner since visiting the amazing Portmeirion earlier this year.

It only clicked that The Prisoner was filmed there when I saw the Patrick McGoohan plaque on one of the walls (later confirmed multifold by the souvenir shop).

 

He was on Columbo the other week too (four times he's been on apparently), and any friend of Peter Falk is a friend of mine.

I watched the first episode of The Prisoner again after visiting Portmeirion in May.

 

It hasn't stood the test of time, best stick with your memories of the show.

I remember watching this when it first came on TV. I was 11 years old. At first I loved it but as the weeks went by it got weirder and I couldn't follow it. In 1970 Patrick McGoohan came into our shop in London a few times, I've got his autograph .......... he was so handsome.

Its interesting as a curio but a little too abstract to be great entertainment, some of the episodes are very hard to follow, McGoohan is excellent in the lead role though.

 

Many Happy Returns was my favourite episode.

I didn't forget, purely because I wasn't aware that he was brought up in Sheffield in the first place. You're right of course, just goggled it.
