Annie Bynnol Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Its a currency, but instead of paper notes and coins etc, its computer based currency. Websites and other company's are starting to accept bitcoin. If only I had bought £100 worth last year, it would have been worth £350 today. If I bought them in 2013, it would be worth £3000 now. ...and if I had have bought them in 2014 they would have lost a third of their value.
tzijlstra Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Yeah … Illuminati stuff. Not by sheer coincidence is 'bitcoin' an anagram of 'the onion ring'! Darnit, I never realised that, but now you mention it! ---------- Post added 16-09-2016 at 15:00 ---------- Its a currency, but instead of paper notes and coins etc, its computer based currency. I had a couple when it first launched (it is my job/interest to stay up to speed with developments so I mined a couple when I first read about it) and somehow lost them. I was desperately trying to work out the password/combo protection I had used once I found out that they were worth a hell of a lot and never did remember. Then the site that held them went under and they are gone forever

I did, early on when it was easy - a lot harder now, so not really interested! you mined a couple???? and your job is to stay up to date and speed on developments??? and you lost the password combo lol schoolboy error:hihi: and the site has gone  internet moguls are safe then:help: I admit, almost as much of a schoolboy error as voting Ukip. The exchange I used went down in flames, Mt Gox, google it, it might teach you to stay out of harms way when it comes to things like this.
Guest Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Excuse my ignorance but can someone educate me on what a bitcoin is? Its a fad, indulged in by people who are on their computers too much. It can't work because the vast majority of people are not overly tech savvy and are therefore alienated by it.

Bitcoin could be used in a similar way to pounds if so desired, if major banks backed the currency. Apparently Barclays is interested.
Phanerothyme Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Bitcoin is the Napster of cryptocurrencies.
