Don't mind a hours drive or so away. Just want something different, places to visit. I know there's Whitby, Bridlington etc but any other suggestions would be appreciated Thank you

Alcoblog Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Staithes Robin Hoods Bay Goathland Helmsley Castle Staithes (old bit) is OK if you want to walk for miles down a steep hill to see a maritime museum who's curator is so old they should be in a museum themselves (model boats and bits of old rope mainly … antique lobster pot or two). Robin Hood's Bay is OK if you want to walk for miles down a very steep hill to see some cottages, a shop that sells tat, and the sea itself (better view from the car park at the top, before setting off downhill on legs. Goathland, or Goatland (AKA Baphomet) as it should be called, is a desolate shrine to '60's police goddess Nick Berry, situated bang centre of the middle of nowhere. If you love old Ford Anglia police cars in various stages of decay, tat shops dedicated to selling anything with a picture of aforementioned Mr.Berry, this is the place to go. (the rubbish steam train stops here leaving you stranded for hours with nothing better to do than marvel at Nick Berry memorabilia and stare at goats, who for reasons known only to themselves, prefer to stand in the far distance). Never been to Helmsley Castle, but visited millions in wi-fi-less Wales. Castles.
