spats   10 #13 Posted September 1, 2016 Such a shame that we can't trust people not to steal from charity. I agree. Best thing to do is to chain the charity box onto something. Unfortunately, Charities experience a lot of thievery because they are seen as easy targets. And not always from who you think. There's those who thieve who you kind of expect to be thieving, & then there's the whole respectable middle class kind who are just as bad. Label swapping, damaging stock to get a price reduction, false claims for refunds etc. I even caught a teacher once changing the prices on stuff to get it cheaper. One of the most prolific tea leaves in our area is a chap who up front seems to be a lovely bloke & talks to everyone, all the charity old dears love him. We caught him red handed nicking (of all things) a Jesus on a crucifix Trust no one....that's what I say!
 Share this content via...
Victoria1867   10 #14 Posted September 1, 2016 Hi all,  We need to fundraise around £350k every year to offer our services and collection boxes tend to bring in between £10-12,000 for us. That's a huge amount for us and we rely on impulse donations from local people to keep us going.  All information on our income is in our accounts and available online.
