Its only a local election, but it shows the direction of votes.

For the sake of balance you could have pointed out that in the other Rotherham council by-election yesterday Labour took a seat off UKIP while the Lib-Dems got just 75 votes. That's another direction of votes.

19% turnout in Dinnington I think I heard.

You probably live closer to Rotherham than me, is it a 1-1 draw?

Elections were held in 124 English councils on 5 May 2016. Seat change is based on previous comparable election results.

Labour gained = zero

Conservative gain = zero

I believe the same applies now, Feb 2017

Still a Labour gain from UKIP whose support seemingly can't be arsed to get out to vote at a time when UKIP are supposed to be replacing Labour in the north. If they can't do that in Rotherham after the child sex abuse scandal it's a poor showing.

Lib-Dem gain from Labour.

Labour gain from UKIP.

I posted a link showing 45 Liberal Democrat gains in 2016; can you post some more positive election news for Labour in 2017?

Jeremy Corbyn’s aides in informal discussions over joint effort to keep Ukip’s Paul Nuttall out of Commons.

They are scared of losing, so they want the support of other parties. You couldnt make it up.

To the o.p.'s question

Maybe with the rise or whatever of ukip, shouldn't we ask "is it the end of the Tory Party?? "

In essence ukip politicians are post-1960s Tories ..

Maybe it's the Tories that are on borrowed time??

We wont end up there, but we are being forced there.

No decent person would vote for the vile tories, or the even viler UKIP.

But we have no representation now at all.

Corbyns sell out on brexit made me fume, he is a traitor to the socialist aim.

We had a socialist Europe within grasping distance, and he sold out.

Many labour leaders have done this in the past, but I expected more of him.

He has betrayed us, and rolled over to the fascists that have infiltrated the party.

To vote with the tories is unforgivable.

I find this irrational, and any moderate person is likely to find it wholly unconvincing.

Your political opponents differ about the best policy for serving the people, not whether they should in fact serve them.

I could just as easily argue that Labour are marxist communists, but I don't because most of them are not.

As far as I am concerned the Labour Party no longer exists, neither does the Conservative Party.

They have lost their way, and may as well just give up.

They have no aims or convictions and are just rabble.

Watching recent events in parliament reminds me of this.

"No question now what has happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again: but already it was impossible to say which was which."

UKIP are a far bigger threat to Labour if recent voting is anything to go by (and I don't see what could a better guide).
