The Joker 10 #2 Posted August 27, 2016 Oh dear. . . I know that be default Windows 10 likes to automatically update itself without your permission, and it also sends bucketloads of telemetry and usage date back to Microsoft. Don't use IE or Edge on Windows 10, 'cos it sends your browsing history to them too!
 Share this content via...

AlexAtkin 10 #6 Posted August 28, 2016 Of course if it ONLY ever gets used on a metered connection, you then have the problem of not getting any security updates. So perhaps popping into somewhere with free WiFi everyone once in a while to update might be a good idea.
 Share this content via...
IT-Smith 10 #7 Posted August 29, 2016 I would not set windows to a metered connection as you could miss important updates. To keep updates on, but to stop windows sharing them. Goto; Setting Update & security Windows update Advanced options Choose how updates are delivered and make sure it is off. To see what is using the bandwidth, goto; Setting Network & Internet Data usage usage details Also if you use apps, goto Task Manager App history
 Share this content via...
