northernboy   13 #85 Posted April 27, 2018 Regarding the so called 'Lists' - I can only view the first five pictures in both The Star & Derbyshire Times. Their media expert is supposed to be investigating the problem & coming back to me. That was a week ago. Needless to say, I'm still waiting!!  The next "picture" is usually an ad or a video which I have to skip - maybe you have an adblocker that's preventing the ad but also stopping you moving on?  I hate those lists! iansheff   86 #86 Posted April 27, 2018 Now some people may say I am lucky but for some reason the Star website will not open on my old laptop not had problems before. Any ideas why this could be happening? it works ok on my phone.  All it says is:  This site can’t be reached  The webpage at https://www.thestar.co.uk/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Baron99 Â Â 779 #88 Posted April 27, 2018 The star app is rubbish. It is all over the place. I have bought the Star newspaper all my life just as my father did. I am now 69. But when they put the price up again that was it for me. So i have not bought the paper for about 2 months and i have not missed it at all. Â I only tend to buy it on Wednesdays for the food & drink review section. The rest of the week it's rubbish. Â I don't know how many of the 'journalists' are born & bred Sheffielders or even from S.Yorks, (but not many given the lack of geographical knowledge on a number of stories) but the past decade or so has seen a sharp decline in standards & yet an increase in patronising journalism from a younger generation of journalists treating Sheffielders like a bunch of country bumpkins who appear to want to live on nostalgia & local references. Â Hence the number of nostalgic photo pieces & endlessly tiresome stories about Henderson's Relish. Â And on such, it's 'ENDERSONS' not 'Hendos'; ECCLESALL Rd' not 'Eccy rd' & 'The Broadfield' pub' not 'The Broady'. Â There endeth today's rant. fill   10 #91 Posted May 7, 2018 obviously mainstream, media, papers tv radio does bring somethings to your attention but as i do not find them to be adequate i find it far better to go online to try and better discern the sequence of events and or the facts if indeed im interested.  the tv news is worst i think though i admit i now never watch it in my own home and seldom anywhere else .. they used to happily bang on about something most people lost interest in half way through the first article on the first day..last month..  north korea going nuclear .well there are other as well so old news after day one korea can now launch missiles at the USA they are not alone in that either old news after day one again. civil war in syria..who did what to who ...lost interest years ago poison attack us and uk try to escalate this into war then the story died and then a month later they stopped harping on about it on the government channels brexit ..were sick of it the remainers lost and can't live with it.. tough old news now look at today's bbc online headline offerings its been hot in a few places today... we know.. did we need telling? violence on london must stop.. to be honest if it stays in london do many of us really care? what about some real news ..who is going to be prosecuted for the the granville tower incident oh its a council building so nobody is to blame.. they have a mayor dont they?  mainstream media tell you what they have been told to tell you and that seems to be about it as far as good journalism goes.
