I was expecting to come on here this morning to read pages and pages of tales of woe regarding people being stuck in traffic in 2 hours because they didnt know about roads being closed....

Completely sick of these events. All outlying roads in chaos, no signage to make effective routes to drive around the city. Sometimes car journeys are required. I'm sure the Traders in the City are frustrated by these events too. For such a (surprisingly nice day after a bad weather week), the City Centre was so quiet.

Cycling, Marathons etc ... sure there could be better routes with less disruption.:loopy::loopy:

And there we have it.

Maybe we can hold these kind of events in the middle of the night.....

Unbelievable isn't it, do people want nothing to happen in this city at all, and for it just to be completely lifeless?

"They should use a running track for the half marathon and make 10,000 people run 33 times around the track all at the same time"

That is a good idea. On Sunday, I couldn`t drive my car to the corner shop to get my paper and I had to consider walking even though the weather was warm. No warning at all except the signs and they were only in English.

We drove into town yesterday lunchtime (with minimal disruption) and there seemed to be a lot of people about, many who had clearly just finished the Skyride, or had stopped off for a bit. This means increased footfall for traders, surely?

I was unsure how to approach my planned visit to the City Hall yesterday, but as we drove to use the park and ride i thought i'd take a chance.

Drove easily into town parked near the Army careers place after a couple of minutes circling for a spot, paid a £1 and job done.

Even better was my unscheduled visit to Leopold Square, pleasant meal at Strada with a quartet performing some lounge music in the glorious sunshine(although the saxophonist was caught in traffic and delayed),and then on to the City Hall later in the afternoon.

So all in all an exceptional visit to the city centre - for a change.
