Fishing Wire mill dam

Being new to Sheffield I have had good and bad reports on wire mill some are telling me its silted up and only 2ft deep and others are say it 5ft deep also been told that it’s been restocked with carp now and not as good as it was

I would like to give it a go but don’t want to waste a day’s fish

Any help would be appreciated

I went up about a month ago and it wasnt closed then. Fishing was pretty bad though I think in 5 hours 2 of us caught 2 fish between us. We didn't see any body else catching much either.

I would like to know from anyone who goes up there on regular basis if they have been catching and on what. Used to go up years ago and there were quite alot of cruisans in there, you were always guaranteed to catch something, seems to have died a death now though.
