I appreciate that this is an old post, but many years ago I got involved in a short-term project which (would have) involved using more than a fair few air cans - and I couldn't afford the outlay.

A solution-of-sorts was to use a spare car tyre, inflated (from memory) to about 40 p.s.i.

A bit 'Heath Robinson', but my little airgun kit came with an adaptor that screwed on to the tyre valve.

Apart from the obvious inconvenience of keeping a spare wheel knocking around - and also having to re-inflate it every so often! - it worked well enough for the purpose!
