gudji1 Â Â 10 #1 Posted June 29, 2016 Sorry if this is in the wrong place but ! Â I am servicing a set of Petrol Injectors in my 1999 MX-5. However the kit comes with all the seal other than the end cap which is called a Pintel Cap. This is a little black plastic piece which I am told holds the seal in place. I removing the old one it cracks due to being hard from the heat. I have tried everywhere to find some but no joy, Â So I have a question to the petrol heads. As the seal can't in any way fall into the head, could I put these in without the caps ? Â Unless you know a place I can get some from. yellowperil   10 #2 Posted June 29, 2016 As i understand it the caps are there to stop the tip of the injector glazing through the heat generated and as long as you dont damage the tip of the injector installing them then they will be ok. Pintle caps are available online though. Try searching pintle instead on pintel.
 Share this content via...
gudji1 Â Â 10 #3 Posted June 29, 2016 Thanks, I think I have been searching with Pintle, its been a long day. Â When you say Glazing from the heat, is this like carbon or ?? Â I am tempted to put back without the Pintle cap but as yet not 100% sure.
 Share this content via...
tzijlstra   11 #4 Posted June 29, 2016 If you do get stuck, a friend of mine uses an MX5 specialised guy in Nottingham, fairly sure you can find it using Google. She has a mk I that he maintains for her.
 Share this content via...
gudji1 Â Â 10 #5 Posted June 29, 2016 When I bought mine I was amazed at how many specialists and breakers are out there but when asking them some did not even know what a Pintle cap was, but neither did I. Â Any idea of a name in Nottingham ? Thanks
 Share this content via...

geared   311 #7 Posted June 30, 2016 I wouldn't install the injector without the pintle cap to be honest, just grab another injector. There's a place Dronfield that breaks MX5's, they will have an injector on the shelf for you.  Address: Peak Autos Mx5 Used Parts Unit 1 Stubley Works, Wreakes Ln, Dronfield S18 1PN  Phone:01246 419019
 Share this content via...
