Never understood the concept of getting a taxi to the airport, its cheaper to either park there or get the train (even a hotel with parking will probably be cheaper).

It's nice to relax before a long trip. And who wants to drive after a long day in airport and plane? Money isn't everything, unless you have very little

Some people don't drive and flights often come in and go out at unsociable hours and trains aren't available then.

Uber don't do that kind of taxi service - you can't book in advance. All you can do with uber is book a private hire car at the time you want it, but for an airport run you want to book somebody in advance who you know does that run regularly and knows the routes and timings.
