Albert Jackson - Chevrolet Impala!

Recommended Posts

Yes I remember seeing the number plate on various cars, I one asked him for first refusal on it if ever he decided to sell.

Now I think of it I haven't seen it for years, possibly 20 !!

I don't know if the family kept the number after he died, last car I saw it on was the E type.

This is a good business friend of my fathers - Albert Jackson American Cars - he had a site in Sheffield, but proably in the 50/60's he had a place at (I thinmk) Harthill area called Car or Carr Farm where he operated from. Also in the 70's a site at Conisbrough

He was always known as the American Car Specialist. He wore a large diamond ring which he took off when going to London because he thought someone would chop off his finger to steal the ring

Victor mh - Subang Jaya Malaysia

As already quoted, this is not the same Albert Jackson I was referring to. He certainly did'nt deal in cars to my knowledge, but i'm still no nearer to satisfying my curiosity as to where his house was!.

I remember a friend having a Marcos around 1970,I wanted to take it for a drive but being 6'2'' I couldn't get in it.

I'm no where near 6'2" but still found it 'awkward' to get both in and out...............but worth the effort once behind the wheel!

I'm not entirely sure, but a property comes to mind that could be a possibility as to where he lived.

If you go past the Dore Moor Inn, which is Hathersage Road, just about opposite Tigers rugby club, there is a driveway leading down to house.

It's a long time ago but he could have lived there.

The 1969 Kelly's directory shows an Albert Jackson at 128 Townhead Road, Dore, though of course it might not be the same person.Yes, in the early 1970s it could often be seen parked outside Albert Jackson's showroom at 138-144 West Bar; the registration number was AJ.5.

Gotcha' there Hilsbro'... yes.. as I was reading these posts.. AJ 5 came to mind..and I recall the.. E'type... and you have confirmed my memory of his personal plate.

Hi, I've just been pointed in the direction of this thread, Albert Jackso was my dad but passed away in 1998.

He did indeed have a Chevvy Impala 64 in metallic blue but I only remember it from photo's. He also had a primrose yellow E Type 4.2 which I had the immense pleasure to drive after he died. We sold the E type to an enthusiast and the AJ5 number plate to smeone with those initials as none of the family either had those initials or were in to private plates.

Unfortunately you're mistaken about the swimming pool in the garden, I feckin wish!!!!

The house was at King Ecgbert rd kind of between Dore and Totley.

Cheers!!
