Police ignoring drug dealers

Recommended Posts

Know a lot of coppers do you? The ones I've had the pleasure working with are mostly hardworking and want the world to be a better place. There are a few lazy ones but considerably less so than in other jobs I've had. I wish the people who slag off the police would be able to come out with some even vague evidence of why and how they are so lazy?

The Police in my opinion seem to see everything as black and white without shades of grey. I'm reminded of the Drug and Alcohol Specialist Doctor in Rotherham evidenced in the Baroness Jay report who contacted the police to report concerns about Child Sexual Exploitation and according to her the police said "where's your evidence" ? She correctly observed " isn't that your job to look for evidence " ?

Not sure whether it's laziness, flabbiness or disinterest

Now the police commanders I would also agree are far too interested in their own political aspiration or pensions to fix things, but coppers on the street are a different kettle of fish. These are the people who risk their own lives on a regular basis to save ours and in general are not people I would describe as lazy.

Agreed. More power to them.

I don't think it's just the drug problem they're turning a blind eye to, South Yorkshire Police seem to be so inept at crime solving if there was a league table they would be at the top of it! Crime of every sort is on the way up in Sheffield according to SYP's own statistics because of the apathy shown towards crime solving by the very organisation that is supposed to police it! The problem is there is not enough man power and the man power that does exist doesn't want to be on shift during the night time hours or weekend! The days of lazy police officers who don't want to investigate crime is here and here to stay!

Ah good, an intellectual!

He can do what he likes with his body but drug abuse is one of the main causes of mental illness and that means the nhs have to treat him.

Ive fixed your statement for you so now it is accurate.

Taking drugs is not a main cause of mental illness as you suggested, abusing them however is major contributing factor. Taking drugs and abusing them are two very different things.

why are the police turning a blind eye to drug dealers on the estates of sheffield, im sure many others on here know of at least 3 drug dealers that work on there estate yet the police seem quite happy to let them carry on with their vile trade. without the supply of these drugs the crime rate would fall, young girls wouldnt have to go shoplifting or even sell their bodies to pay for their drugs. is this the type of city we are happy to raise our youngsters in knowing one day your young daughter or son could become a addict and have their lives ruined by these vile money grabbing low lifes that are not bothered what they sell the addict as long as they get their money. its time the police did the job they get well paid to do and give us all a safe city to live in

taking out low level dealers is a never ending task - take one off the street and the next level dealer will have someone in their place within the day ...

take the next level dealer out and the 3rd level dealers will have someone in place within hours to days ... it's at the 3rd and higher levels that actual disruption to supply can take place ...

True. Many of those on the bottom of the pile are usually cannon fodder/food for slaughter.

The real big boys whether importing or bringing illegal stuff directly to sheffield just have to sit back and collect their money every few days.

In My opinion A lot more should be done to stop the Drug Dealers What ever level it is , How ever the problem is Not enough man power to do it . crime will always be there and more police needed on street , but problem is theres not enough funds for the man power .

I can't see why the made legal highs illegal. It's not like they were harming anyone, was it?

Interestingly, there was a stat I saw that showed the legal highs caused more hospital admissions per usage than their illegal counterparts. Typically I cannot find it now. It was to do with the fact that illegal drugs like ecstasy and speed are well known. The physical affects are known, the amount to take are known, even what they are cut with is generally known. Doctors and nurses know how to deal with side effects or an overdose. Legal highs are absolute unknowns, they are often made up almost on the fly to just get around existing laws. Doctors don't even know what's in them let alone how to treat an overdose or reaction. Users don't know what to expect, how much to take etc.

Kinda mentioned in a roundabout way here:
