Nigel Womersle   10 #27 Posted October 15, 2016 Hi yes it was. It should be repaired so that it works again, it would look much better rather than being stopped. Why isn't it classed as a public clock like many other church clocks and paid for from local authorities or parish councils?  Just found out from a local history book, that the bell was called Freda by the locals because its inauguration was performed by Miss Freda Newton of the Newton Chambers Ironworks family. Ableton   10 #28 Posted October 17, 2016 Remedy I'm thinking of buying that church Would you be able to tell me more??   I dont want to sound negative but i know for a fact the current owner has had all kinds of problems with spirits, strange noises, poltergeists, things moving and sightings of unnatural things. They have had people in to try and rid the place of whatever it is that is there to no avail. Believe or dont believe, i myself am open to the idfea of ghosts, spirits etc but from what i now i wouldnt touch it.
 Share this content via...
geared   303 #29 Posted October 17, 2016 Remedy I'm thinking of buying that church Would you be able to tell me more??  You will find it near impossible to get a mortgage on the place, you'll need a significant deposit and a specialist lender who will obviously charge much higher interest rates than the normal high street lenders.  You'll also need to keep in mind how difficult it will be to sell it on should you need to, it won't be quick or easy to find a buyer. Believe or dont believe, i myself am open to the idfea of ghosts, spirits etc but from what i now i wouldnt touch it.  Strange, My dads friend did the original conversion and lived in It for years, they never had an incidents or noises etc , I stayed there a few times as a kid and always found it quite a nice atmosphere and comfortable, to say it was such a big old place it didn't feel spooky, n I used to get scared in a modern house at night when I was really Young . Not saying it's not happening but never did when my dads friend owned it. Maybe they have borrowers?
 Share this content via...
