geared   305 #97 Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) Link if you want to post a comment, plenty of people objecting for one reason or another.  https://planningapps.sheffield.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=O72KH4NYFFZ00  I'm not sure what constitutes a genuine objection or a NIMBY moan? Objecting that many illuminated signs is not in keeping with the area maybe?  The plans proposed in addition to the building are for:- - 12m high totem sign - 1 illuminated logo sign - 3 illuminated individual letter signs - 2 illuminated fascia signs - 1 illuminated gateway sign - 6 illuminated totem signs - 1 illuminated panel sign - 2 illuminated freestanding directional signs   How are local residents supposed to sleep when the area is lit up like Blackpool illuminations? This is a residential area, not a trading estate, industrial estate or petrol station, which is historically where McDonalds usually site their "restaurants" and this will be totally garish and in contradiction to the local surroundings. geared   305 #99 Posted June 20, 2016 Yeah, those Morrisons signs are never lit up....  Yep thats where it mainly falls down, the supermarket next door isn't exactly hidden from view.  They can't really claim it's a residential area either, two supermarkets, many small shops, the police station, car dealership, bus depot, pub etc etc etc. oh and don't forget the scrap yard! ECCOnoob   1,029 #100 Posted June 20, 2016 Yeah, those Morrisons signs are never lit up....  .....or the pub, or the car dealership, or the police station for that matter.  Honestly, some people need to grow up. This is not some quaint residential cul-de-sac.  Its a main thoroughfare adjacent to a bus depot, a supermarket, a police station and an industrial unit.  I would more than welcome it to the area. Hambeast   10 #101 Posted June 20, 2016 "Harrods sandwich shop will suffer"  Is that the one I barely see open and mainly does outside catering, oh and is probably infringes on some kind of trademark with its name anyway?
 Share this content via...

Hambeast   10 #103 Posted June 20, 2016 There are some utterly bizarre objections on there. Someone claiming a new building will increase flooding despite a building already standing on the land concerned, and someone suggesting that people will use the new McDonalds to taunt the police next door!  Honestly.....  ---------- Post added 20-06-2016 at 13:32 ----------  I thought it was a caterers not open to the public.  Exactly, does outside catering and I rarely see it "open". I dont think you can walk in there at lunch for a butty. Would be affected not one iota by a new McDonalds.
 Share this content via...
BigRstar88 Â Â 10 #104 Posted June 20, 2016 The people complaining are people that probably still call it a village area although it clearly isn't anymore. The same a dore 'village' just get your heads out of your bums. If McDonald's or anyone wants to build anything anywhere afew objections won't stop that. It's who they know or how much they have paid. See all the supporters in McDonald's when it opens.
 Share this content via...

the fonz   10 #108 Posted June 20, 2016 I'm not sure what constitutes a genuine objection or a NIMBY moan?.  It needs to be a material consideration which includes things like:  •Overlooking/loss of privacy •Loss of light or overshadowing •Parking •Highway safety •Traffic •Noise •Effect on listed building and conservation area •Layout and density of building •Design, appearance and materials •Government policy •Disabled persons' access •Proposals in the Development Plan •Previous planning decisions (including appeal decisions) •Nature conservation  However, issues such as loss of view, or negative effect on the value of properties are not material considerations.
