Michael_W #289 Posted June 24, 2016 This referendum came about mainly because of immigration, nobody wanted to touch the subject until UKIP got hold of the issue and ran with it, all the hand wringers and their ilk were all too happy to cry 'racist', 'bigot' and 'xenophobe' whenever the subject was discussed critically, this forum has regularly been typical of wider UK society in that sense. Had our politicians and people generally not been so bloody sensitive, ignorant, arrogant and self righteous, today could have been avoided ....IMHO ! L00b #290 Posted June 24, 2016 You want fries with that salt? Just talking about the steel tariffs, my good man. Just the steel issue. But if you're offering, sure. French ones, please. And may I be so uncough as to request my region's traditional variation (cooked in beef dripping, with lardons ('bacon bits'), with a lid put on half-way through to retain some moistness)
 Share this content via...
the_bloke #291 Posted June 24, 2016 But surely the key point is that the decisions to fail to help the UK Steel Industry were made by the UK, not by the EU. The key point for me was that any decision made had to be performed at an EU level. Javid screwed it up in our case, but at the same time he had the power to take down the countries who actually voted for extra tariffs. I don't think it's fair that we can influence the policies of other nations outside of the UK any more than they can influence our own, and that's a belief that transcends the example I gave of Tata steel. Penistone999 #294 Posted June 24, 2016 First of all. Brown and Blair DELIBERATELY increased immigration. By relaxing the immigration rules. They also incorporated the human rights s legislation in our law giving people who had no right to be here, endless appeals and expense. Secondly. Cameron had a year. He was hampered by the libtards for five of the years. Thirdly. You may not have noticed but Africa and the Middle East has been on the move to Europe. This flood of migrants has really been a force for him to repel. Fourthly. Because parliament rejected Cameron's desire to help sort out Syria, DAESH has driven one or two refugees our way. All along we've had retards telling us we should be letting these poor people in and calling anyone who disagrees a waycist or an inhuman monster. Which of course benefited the Blair`s financially with old Cherrie being one of the old human rights lawyers.
 Share this content via...
