Recommended Posts

Are you over 50? Do you know someone who has been affected by cancer? Would you like to show your support for this fantastic local hospital? if so, please come along to our Monday Pals Group (MPG) at Sheffield Transport Sports Club on 27th June at 1pm to 4.30pm to enjoy an afternoon of good food and good company! For just a £1 entry fee you will have live music from acclaimed local duo "TOFFEE" and you'll enjoy a free hot roast pork sandwich with chips for lunch! The afternoon will also have bingo, a raffle, and Ted's famous "quizzy bingo". Enjoy a glass of wine, a beer or a freshly ground coffee at the bar and relax with friends..and meet new ones! An indication of numbers if coming as a group would be appreciated, but everyone is welcome..you don't have to be an existing club member to come along to this Monday Group, we meet each alternate Monday and you are very welcome to join us......

They do....but we are an over 50s group, so I'm afraid that much as we would probably like to turn back the clock a few years we can't!!! so even though we might be over 50 ourselves, the money we raise at this event will benefit everyone treated at Western Park...not just people our age!!! Maybe the post was misleading??

Maybe if you are a younger person you'd like to arrange an event with us to raise money specifically for younger people with cancer? we'd love to support you if it's something you'd be happy to do? Please feel free to ring us on 0114 2373216 to discuss any fundraising ideas you can think of and we'll see what we can do to help! On a further note...we're happy to support anyone out there wanting to raise funds for charity, just get in touch at any time.

why be ageist regards such a strong issue, ? this is just as wrong as Walk/race for life at one time men couldn't even enter,, .All such events should welcome any age and gender

Oh heavens this is proving to be very tedious!!! we're an over 50s club which aims to help older people socialize...often they feel more comfortable not surrounded by children or teenagers or whatever, that's really all there is to it. It's like saying why don't pensioners get invited to mother and toddler mornings...it's to help a target age group that's all. I sincerely apologize if this is an issue for you, but we do have lots of fundraisers throughout the year when absolutely everyone is welcome, it's just that on this occasion our over 50s group would like to help support this worthy cause themselves, as well as encouraging more isolated older people to become engaged in a more active social life and help others at the same time...it's really not ageist at all.
