rudds1 Â Â 102 #2 Posted June 4, 2016 We're due for the dreaded works to start very soon for streetlights and path/road resurfacing. I understand that they need the roads clear for the resurfacing but does anyone know if they take into account the people with blue badges and disabled bays? Ours is a heavy populated rd and many homes have more than one vehicle so it's going to be hard enough finding somewhere else to park without having mobility problems. I've contacted streets ahead but not had a reply yet. Â They told one of my neighbours he had to park his car away from house and walk to his house as he had no drive but another neighbour was allowed access to his house as he was able to park on his drive
 Share this content via...
cgksheff   44 #3 Posted June 4, 2016 As long as you keep your blue badge displayed, the hand-brake off and neutral engaged they will roll your car away when they need to re-tarmac 'your' bit of road. Make sure that you have photos to ensure that they put it back on the same spot.
 Share this content via...

tlangdon12 Â Â 13 #5 Posted June 4, 2016 Perhaps you could leave your handbrake on and put a sign next to your blue badge telling the workmen which is your house so that they can ask you to move your car when they are ready to resurface the road. It only takes them one day, so you might have to go out for the day if you can't get back to the house without your car.
 Share this content via...
rozweb   10 #6 Posted June 5, 2016 When they did our road the workmen were very good. We are tight for on road parking and neighbour has a blue badge. He asked workmen and they told him what time they were doing our bit of road and said they would knock on door and tell him when it needed to be moved. They said not to take notice of signs telling you to clear road for five days, just move it back same night. He did have to park a couple of streets away though and struggle back on crutches, but we thought they helped as much as they could. Road looks a lot better though. The Joker   10 #8 Posted June 5, 2016 We're due for the dreaded works to start very soon for streetlights and path/road resurfacing.  I sympathise with you, I also preferred the sodium streetlights that failed regularly, and the huge potholes that would swallow your car if you weren't careful.  Stupid forward-thinking council, trying to improve the lives of us residents.  Why can't they just leave things be, instead of inconveniencing us for a few days? Scozzie   10 #9 Posted June 5, 2016 Hey piskeymax,  People are usually pretty cool, if you ask them things. I'm sure the workers have been aproached about this kind if thing before. You just need to give them the opportunity to say they can help. :-)
 Share this content via...
