selliot 10 #1 Posted June 3, 2016 Led by bestselling author Susan Elliot Wright, and local novelist Russell Thomas, winner of the Waterstones Booksellers Bursary. Contrary to popular opinion, we believe you can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. This workshop, the first of two redrafting sessions, will focus on the broader issues of character, plot and structure, addressing questions such as: are you telling the story in the right order? Do the events occur in such a way as to build conflict, tension and drama? Might it work better told in first person? Or might a third person narrator give you more options? Through whose eyes do we see the story unfold? Is this the best choice? Are your minor characters earning their place or could you combine two or more to make a more interesting character without losing the important bits? NB you don't need a complete first draft or even half a novel to attend this workshop, but you'll find this useful if you have at least 10,000 words and an outline/synopsis. Time: 10.30 - 4.30 Venue: Wesley Hall, Crookes, Sheffield S10 1UD Cost: £40, including morning and afternoon refreshments For more details or to book, send a message or visit the website:http://www.susanelliotwright.co.uk/p/workshops.html
 Share this content via...
