Oxbow pond Woodhouse Mill

Obviously myself and the others I have spoken to on the bank after several fishless hours do not know how to fish it.

Cheers

That's fishing! For the last few weeks I suspect the fish have had spawning on their minds. They must be out-of-sorts with the weather we have been having. particularly cold nights. Honestly, try what I suggested in September/October and you should have a birthday. If you are going for the bigger fish, bear in mind it is a large water and location can be key.

Many thanks for the reply and the pointers.

I have not written off Treeton, but find myself struggling like I never do anywhere else.

It really does seem to me (and others) that NOTHING works when chasing smaller stuff.

I will follow your advice and report back, be good if a few others also did.

Is the Piking any good through Winter ?

Cheers

I don't pike fish so can't speak from personal experience but it's certainly got a good name for pike. Quite a few people do fish Treeton Dyke for pike with good results. I'm not sure but think the rules have now changed so you can fish for them all year round, with restrictions on methods/bait in the summer. There are a few photos of pike on the website: http://www.treetondykeanglingclub.co.uk/#/photos/4571368671 . It may be worth contacting Tony Haywood to check on the rules.

Good luck

Just to get this tread moving again, I have persisted following the above advice, results being TERRIBLE. I am only being honest here, it is soul destroying.

Many others I have spoken to on the bank have also reached the same conclusion.

I dont pretend to know the problem but it is a large one.

Regulars (which I now will not be) tell me that big stuff is caught through the night.

My personal view, that fishery is on the slow decline.
