Where to eat on way to the Lakes?

Recommended Posts

We travel up the A1 / A66 to The Lakes on Friday evenings and often use the Fox hall Inn on the A66 just after Scotch corner for a meal on the way

But feel like a change - anyone know a nice place for sensible priced pub grub close along the A1 or A66? Close to Scotch Corner turn is good as we are usually ready to eat about then

Five mins away:

Or pop into Richmond town centre, lots of restaurants there:

It seems like you've picked the best already. The Fox Hall gets lots of excellent reviews:

We went in the Corner House at Leeming bar the other week, that was ok.

Come off at Scotch Corner and head towards the services. Don't go in - drive past into Middleton Tyas village and you find this little gem...

Very highly recommended - I eat there many times.

Fox Hall is also very good but I like the shoulder - it's quieter as there is less passig traffic and you don't feel as rushed to leave.

Used to like Fox Hall (Fox House?) but went off it a bit when it became a fish and chip restaurant a few years ago.

There's the Black Bull at Brough on the other side of Stainmore if you want to push on a bit further.

(Head towards Kirkby Stephen from the bypass, not into town)

wow, lots of choice - thanks folks

tend to agree with you InigoMontoya, chips and burgers isnt something we particularly want on a long journey - but its great to see the old pub doing so well (we used to lok forward to seeing the big yellow pub, it meant we were almost on holiday)
