HCF2010   10 #13 Posted May 16, 2016 Hi chazndave  We have a weekly social cafe at Heeley City Farm if you are anywhere near there (although we get people travelling from further afield to attend). People come to socialise from around 6pm on Tuesdays in the farm cafe and a cheap healthy meal is served at about 7/7.30pm. They have different activities happening before the food is served and many of the people who attend are in a similar position to yourself. Everyone is lovely and you are more than welcome to come and try it out.  We also have a craft group on Wednesday afternoons 1 - 3. This is free but a donations for materials are helpful. We do tea/coffee etc for a few pence.  And there is also a out of tune choir I believe which has just started up - it's just for fun and is for people who enjoy singing but can't sing! This is on a Wednesday evenings again in the cafe.  If you ever fancied learning how to garden the farm also has several projects around food growing which are free to help with and all the equipment is provided.  If you fancy any of these ring 0114 2580482 for a chat about them  Hope you find something to do x
 Share this content via...
Cyclone   10 #14 Posted May 16, 2016 How about an evening class or art group? There are quite a few art classes around where you don't need any experience/skill to get started. It might be a therapeutic way to meet new people.  Or an exercise group or activity.
 Share this content via...

feargal   21 #16 Posted May 17, 2016 What do you enjoy doing Chazndave? Or are there any interests you fancy having a go at? I know plenty of craft classes, film socials, quizzes etc, but you don't really give any clues as to your interests! Also, what area? City centre, or suburbs. Give us some clues and see what folk can suggest .  Also, maybe pop into your local library, they often have lists of classes, clubs, groups, socials, etc.
 Share this content via...

feargal   21 #18 Posted May 17, 2016 Have a look in the walking group section, plenty of walks advertised there, usually dog friendly. You can go with your husband or solo, depends how brave you feel. Also, maybe suggest an outing in the entertainment section... Loads of forummers have unlimited cards and are happy to join up for a film now and then.
 Share this content via...
