Naz Shah suspended from Parliament for anti Jewish rants.

Recommended Posts

Some people are hyper vigilant to "anti-semitism" seeing it round every corner and in every remark, nudge and wink. Criticism of Israeli domestic and foreign policy always seems to be seen as anti-Semitic. the case of the MP mentioned in this thread is done to death in yesterday's Daily Mail, which says it all really

So people think that a suggestion that we transport the people of Israel and "problem solved" is not antisemitic? Really?

this kindergarten-level 'critique' of Israel as a 51st US state is sadly a not uncommon one. It might well betray an antisemitic attitude, and in fact I think it probably does, but it might not.

but when one of Shaz's Labour party mentors, Ken Livingstone, likened a Jewish newspaper reporter, who wasn't even Israeli, to a Nazi concentration camp guard, now that was definitely antisemitic. What Livingstone said, was nothing to do with Israel, and everything to do with the fact that the newspaper reporter was Jewish. But Livingstone got away with it. Unlike Shah, he wasn't suspended from the Labour party. In fact I don't think he even apologised to the guy.

it's not even all that important that Shaz is a Muslim. It has been obvious that a significant section of the left have been veering antisemite for years and years. Corbyn's election as Labour leader - and who couldn't even bring himself to actually say the word 'Israel' when he went to the Labour Friends of Israel meeting at conference - can only have emboldened them and made them think attitudes like Shaz's are legitimate.

the Tim Marshall article loses a very great deal of credibility indeed when it 'quotes' Martin Luther King as having supposedly said 'When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews. You are talking anti-Semitism’.

while I tend to agree with this at least some if not most of the time, the fact is that Martin Luther King never said any such thing : see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letter_to_an_Anti-Zionist_Friend

more usually, it is the anti-Israeli or anti-Zionist crowd that invents quotes, or takes them out of context. The CAMERA Committee For Accurate Middle East Reporting website lists dozens of them. But this false Martin Luther King quote was one of those rarer times when it is the pro-Israel crowd that was guilty.

The Bradford Labour party MP Naz Shah has been suspended from Parliament for saying that Isreal should be moved to America along with other Anti Jewish comments.

This is the latest outburst from a prominent member of the Left wing after the newly elected president of the students union Malia Bouattia has been accused of making similar comments.

She should not have been suspended. Israel is a VILE little place that causes untold hurt and distress in that region. Ship em off and let someone else populate that land. I hope she doesn't get the sack for this.

If that is true then its surely better to leave them in the region that is full of other bad people causing untold hurt and distress, why ship them off to somewhere nice and spoil the lives of other people.

I think you are mixing up a letter falsely attributed to Martin Luther King with an actual statement made by him, and which Tim Marshall refers to. See the link that Marshall provides in his article, or indeed, the Wikipedia link that you do.

fun fact : If Israel was a US state, it would be #48 in area. It's just slightly smaller than New Jersey. But 33% bigger than the next smallest, Connecticut.

of course thats not anti-sematic either is it?

or narrow minded, or ill informed, or moronic.

What if the tables were turned, and it was a prominent Jewish figure calling for all the Muslims to be rounded up and shipped off overseas????

It would probably also be one of the wealthiest states in America, now if Israel was a Muslim country it would be one of the poorest in the world and Muslims would be running away from it leaving it vacant for the Jews to move back in. :)
