crookedspire   10 #37 Posted July 5, 2016 ------------------ Hi Crookedspire, Enclose picture of the old Earl Francis pub its now a grocery shop couple years now. Was good looking round the Hyde park flats and i liked the walk round Park Hill flats.  Thanks Brain, About mid 2011 I was in the area with my camera taking a few photos of Park Hill flats after doing this had a walk up Duke Street then passed the now closed New Inn . Then I noticed further up an outline of a flat roofed building with overgrown foliage been a Urban Explorer had to have a look. Their was pole that clearly once held a pub sign then looked at the building itself you could see the outlines of a name - ' Earl Francis' it was clear the pub had been closed some years. At that time their was a window missing ( glass wall blocks ) you could see the inside the walls were dark wooden panelling very 1960s but the bar was missing along with any seating. Guest   #40 Posted July 6, 2016 Where was (is) the 'Trades and Labour' Club ? At the crossroads where Duke Street crosses Talbot Street and Bernard Street, The Trades and Labour Club is opposite the Salvation Army.
 Share this content via...

The New Inn must have been shut at least four years now.
 Share this content via...

Was there ever a WMC within the Hyde Park flats complex (Maltravers Road end) or am I thinking wrong ?
 Share this content via...

St Petre   85 #46 Posted January 17, 2019 Thank you, it was the Park Gardeners club at Bernard Street and Cricket Inn Road, another social/drinking establishment no longer standing.
 Share this content via...
