Looking for sturdy plastic storage boxes

Recommended Posts

I'm needing to buy some good quality plastic storage boxes. They need to withstand fairly heavy loads and being lifted in and out of a car several times a week- without breaking and cracking within a few weeks. I know I need to spend more than a couple of quid - but am not sure where to get such an item locally. The ones I've bought from Poundstretcher and Dunelm aren't sturdy enough. Any ideas?

eBay if you don't them mind them second hand. There is firm in Sheffield that makes but I can't remember the name. I'll dig it out.

It sounds like you want the kinda boxes that the supermarket home delivery people use.

You can get the tray type like this:

or a box with interlocking lid:

Screwfix do some stuff without lids, they have 3 stores in Sheffield:

I saw some in Macro the other day.

About 1 foot by 2 foot by 1 foot deep. They came with a Dexion type shelving unit. Bins had lids.

I think the deal was something like 12 bins plus shelving unit for £28 or thereabouts.

Staples own brand ones are good.

Staples had Really Useful Boxes last time I checked. Can't big them up enough, those things do the job perfectly.

After disappointment after disappointment, unless you are prepared to spend a small fortune, in my experience, the IKEA ones are the most robust for the money.
