kaytie   11 #25 Posted February 21, 2016 I'd rather have the big wheel back on Fargate to be honest.  So would I. Went on it several times as the view from the top was superb. Far nicer than cheap and tacky 'squealer rides'. This horror could, far from attracting to the city centre, keep some away from it. I'm even considering Meadowhell for my shopping (and everyone who knows me knows how I hate Meadowhell).
 Share this content via...
Daven   10 #26 Posted February 21, 2016 I go into town every day, it may be busy at lunch time but that's just workers getting out of their workplaces, go in the Winter Gardens any school day and it's empty, all we have in town are charity shops Poundland and just four quality or biggish stores. Why the fair rides are wheeled out every school holiday, all that does is put money into the pockets of the owners of the rides.  You look but you don't SEE ! Most city centres are more quiet during the day midweek than at the weekends. There are definitely more than just charity and pound shops in town..... Lots are lovely unique shops now in the Devonshire Quarter and West Street and the Moor is very busy now. Weekends in the Sheffield city centre are really busy - it's lovely to see people coming into town to do their shopping and socialising.  ---------- Post added 21-02-2016 at 10:31 ----------  So would I. trainwalker   10 #28 Posted February 21, 2016 In my opinion the decision to allow the carnies to put a ride on fargate is a good one. Hopefully the council will be charging a hefty rent and therefore help to boost the councils purse. The carnies will no doubt get their money back by changing I'm the region of between £3 to £4 for a two minute ride. The siting of such an attraction will not do much to get people into the city centre. The majority of the riders will be children who will pester their parents for the money to go on the ride. At least it will only be here for a few months.
 Share this content via...

Manchester and Edinburgh had it over the festive season, £6.75 for a five minute ride. some good views but freezing so rap up and for those who can overcome the vertigo, Ya gonna luv it. ormester101   10 #34 Posted February 21, 2016 More down market nonsense. The traveller fair the council insist on bringing to fargate each school holidays is so last century. Does any forward thinking big city still persevere with such tripe? We can jump on the band wagon and bring this latest thing but are so far behind Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool it's embarrassing.  traveling ride that was in amusement park till mellors a nottingham based company made it for travelling .why dont you wait and see before been a numpty slagging it off  ---------- Post added 21-02-2016 at 21:07 ----------  Just when the tacky fairground rides had gone we are now cursed with this monstrosity! And don't get me started on the abomination which gets so inappropriately sited by the side of the war memorial in Barkers pool and terrifies me with the closeness it comes to the side of the City Hall. And before anyone says these things are safe, there are a few unfortunate young people who learned the hard way that Alton Towers rollercoaster wasn't safe.  utter crap if you looked into why smiler had the accident then you know it was human error .  ---------- Post added 21-02-2016 at 21:09 ----------  So would I. You should have a chat with your alter ego Escort1.  If the carnies are going to charge over a fiver for this ride then I hope it is a major flop. It would be much better suited in another city such as Leeds or York.
 Share this content via...
