markyspark   10 #1 Posted April 17, 2016 Hello all  I'm just wondering if I can tow a caravan with my motability car?  The sales rep said yes but I'm still not sure on the technicalities  Does anyone tow with theirs and if so did you need extra insurance?  Regards  Mark
 Share this content via...
Priorylady   10 #2 Posted April 17, 2016 it would partly depend on the towing capabilities of your car and what your driving license permits you to do
 Share this content via...

markyspark   10 #5 Posted April 26, 2016 Hello all I'm just wondering if I can tow a caravan with my motability car?  The sales rep said yes but I'm still not sure on the technicalities  Does anyone tow with theirs and if so did you need extra insurance?  Regards  Mark[/QUO  i have towed with a motorbility car, If you decide to ,have the bar fitted by the motorbility dealer or you could have problems regarding warranty claims if any thing goes wrong. Also you must inform motorbility .  Thanks for the info  Motability have been back in touch and said I need to have it fitted by a VAT registered company  Interestingly they stated I don't need to inform them when the towbar is fitted  They have advised extra insurance on the caravan as they won't cover it  Got a quote of £49.99 which was a nice surprise  Got my caravan coming on Friday, I plan to give the interior a lick of paint and then its just a matter of waiting for my car to be ready  Looking forward to plenty of weekends away now
 Share this content via...

markyspark   10 #7 Posted April 27, 2016 You do realize that this weight limit is the fully loaded weight ? Not the combined weight of car and caravan before loading.  Yes  I have deliberately gone for a very light caravan to make sure I'm well below the fully loaded weight
 Share this content via...

Jomie   30 #9 Posted April 30, 2016 You don't say what your disability is but please be careful when towing a caravan. Caravanning can be hard, physical work. We gave it up for the reason of disability and not being able to cope with it. Hopefully you have a carer to attend to the heavy stuff. If not, and you are dealing with it yourself just be careful - you never know who is watching.
 Share this content via...
