Politicians are they out of touch with us?

Recommended Posts

How can somebody who in a month spends £7700 of other peoples money on hair dos be in touch with ordinary folk like us (excepting any millionaires reading this)?

IMO it's obscene when a single pensioner has to live on £4381 per year state pension and somebody earning the minimum wage would have to work for 36 weeks to earn the equivalent.

They just haven't got a clue!

My point exactly. It wasn't her money, though she probably could well afford to pay for it, but subscriptions paid by ordinary Labour Party members. Those members are very likely to come from the poorer groups that I mentioned ie pensioners and low income workers :gag:

What really narks me off is that my union sub goes into bankrolling her hairdo. If this was France, someone would burn her hair off! Teach her a lesson!

Yeah just like pumping £7billion+ subsidy into the railways, whereas publicly-owned BR turned a profit and had to justify investment. Didn't even get done for buying a ticket either.

Champagne socialism, masquerading as christian-democratic socalism! I can see why people look to the BNP as an attractive alternative. Vote blue, get green? No thanks! LibDems make out they are different, but they are just the same!

Only one who would get my vote now are the Greens. Unfortunately I cannot vote for them until 2009 due to lack of their candidates!

The railways are improving, network rail have actually improved things. Midland Mainline had 97.9% (or around that mark) punctuality last month, The number of passengers has increased far too much.

Years of underinvestment have meant that increasing capacity is a massive problem - which means higher fares whilst a solution is found.

Besides, the conservatives were the ones who privatised BR

Politicians don't have clue about the problems faced by the electorate. I'm sure that they are briefed by whichever group that illustrates to them that certain problems exist but I'm certain that whoever your elected representative is doesn't have a clue about the problems which affect your life.

I can honestly say that my MP wouldn't know how to deal with anything I do, even if they knew about it. These people are just freeloaders who masquerade as champions of the people, sadly for us, they only seem to make things more difficult for us all :(

I wouldn't *personally* vote BNP myself! Although I am white, and have British nationality, I don't consider myself "British" or "English". I would trust the research Joseph Rowntree Foundation publish more than, say, ODPM house price statistics. I don't think I've ever known of an *attractive* politician, except possibly Boris Johnson, in a public school boy who should have really got a job in the city to keep his hands occupied-type of way.

Midland Mainline got 97.9% ppm figure through Project Speed, the only way was up following the stats they got during Project Rio. It just happened to be that nowt lucky happened, and shows it can be done! Only the other day the wires came down and chaos ensued south of Luton, the current months stats won't look so pretty now cos of that. Admittedly MML do an excellent job considering its just a contract now. MML considers itself to be a company, "that just happens to operate trains".

Labour promised, like many things it didn't keep to, to renationlise the railways. Ten years, billions of pounds later we are still waiting.

Less traffic + better transport

No to nuclear like Manchester

No to Euro + Constitution, but still pro-Europe

No to ID cards and national database

Devolution, not to regions, but local towns

Respecting other people and the environment.

Those are the reasons why I would vote green.

smartie please, please never repeat this type of thing on SF forum again.......and particularly on a Thread referring to politicians. The temptations to respond humorously are far too great, and could result in multiple bans of about 5000+ Members...........:hihi: :hihi: :hihi::thumbsup:
