Great Yorkshire Run 2016 - is in Harrogate

Recommended Posts

The Great Yorkshire Run in Sheffield never really caught on, and having lost Morrison's sponsorship they've moved to Harrogate for 2016, sponsored by Theakston's, on the 24th July. See; http://www.greatrun.org/great-yorkshire-run?utm_medium=social&utm_content=%28not-set%29&utm_campaign=great%20yorkshire%20run&utm_term=%28not-set%29&utm_source=facebook.com#a-new-event

After taking part in all 9 in Sheffield I've already entered for the Morpeth 2 Newcastle half Marathon option on 17th July instead, see; http://http://morpeth2newcastle.co.uk/

It is a real shame. Personally I enjoyed seeing some top quality runners but it never seemed as popular as the others in the series which are often televised.

Shame, but it was quite possibly the most boring route they could have chosen in Sheffield, it was overpriced compared to most 10k's around and very congested.

I paced different groups for this races for a couple of years & it was very enjoyable, but I would have never paid to enter.

I once helped on the water station at Hillsborough park. Saw quite a few people clipping through the barriers and short cutting the dead turn.

For that money, I would want to do 2 laps...

I liked it and thing it is quite poor of Sheffield to have not got their act together to keep it here. It get a bit desperate when the council was asking for organisers on Twitter.

I think they are planning a new 10K here organised by same people that do the HM.

Hopefully a better route including some city centre.
