theimposter   10 #1 Posted March 10, 2016 I've been reading the Peter Tuffrey book about pub landlords and I stumbled across a short piece about 'Whispers' which was the former Carwood Tavern (more or less opposite the Corner Pin on Carlise St). It had an expensive makeover and was turned in to a video jukebox bar but would appear to have not lasted long. Does anyone remember it? Does anyone remember it?  It used to be the 'Carwood HOTEL', the 'Tavern' in that area was the 'Hallcar' on the Carwood estate. bluesbrother   10 #7 Posted March 23, 2016 I DJ'd there back in the Whispers days! It was run by John & Janet Lomas (yes, from Derby) and 'Spider', whose real name deserts me atm.  I think the downfall was the "Strippers Sundays" that gave it the old school reputation.  Had a good time there tho.
