Dufflecoat   10 #4 Posted February 17, 2016 Seen ones on picture sheff thanks Was hoping to get older ones When it was bought twenty years or so ago by the church they say outbuildings were used as garages but originally could have been stables Name of Meadow inn suggests coaching inn Apparently a mile sign used to be at the height of a coach further down road towards attetc life which would suggest it was on coaching route Many of stones in garden behind are remnants from these outbuildings  ---------- Post added 17-02-2016 at 20:51 ----------  I saw a photo once with landlord standing in doorway surrounded by bunting it was celebrating something but cannot remember what Could have been coronation of Elizabeth but bit due Thunk it was in a book on old sarnall  ---------- Post added 17-02-2016 at 20:53 ----------  Sorry about typing Mobile keyboard too small No glasses on to check autocorrect  ---------- Post added 17-02-2016 at 22:01 ----------  For any one in darnall and surrounding area who reads this and may be in need of help The place we are talking about is also a foodbank distribution point on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a citizens advice drop in centre on Wednesdays All details on front door Always willing to advise and help those in area and surrounding areas Call in
 Share this content via...
princeowales   10 #5 Posted February 18, 2016 I knew it in the 60s good pub, landlord was Wilf.........? Stones house, really good pint. In the 80s it was still a good pint - it was best pint of Stones on Darnall and next door was the best pint of Wards in The Industry. Dufflecoat   10 #7 Posted February 18, 2016 Gone but not forgotten And in case of the Meadow still serving the local community although in a different way It is a shame to see old beautiful pubs standing boarded and falling into ruin The architecture alone is worth saving Ball inn has a beautiful facade as has duke of York and wellington Industry next to meadow is now a house but hardly recognisable as a pub E
 Share this content via...
