Sheffield half marathon in april 2016

Recommended Posts

I have a long-term ankle injury which has flared up in recent months; so I've done next to no training what-so-ever!

Good news is, it (my ankle) feels like it's on the mend; however, I'm still not keen to push it too far; I'm more concerned with it's recovery and my long term running prospects, than I am with getting a decent time in at Sheffield HM. So, plan is to just tootle round at a casual pace and enjoy it.

loads of people up heading up Rinninglow yesterday morning.

Parked at Endcliffe and ran from the park up to the Roundhouse and back. Then we drove the whole course.

It was my first time on the course.

Hope everyone has been practicing downhill running...

It's a fair point. The vdownhills are very tough on the legs. I had next to nothing left for the final flat stretch tbh.

The downhills are what will give you a good time on this one imo.

I do 1.50 halfs and got may first ever sub 7 min mile last year at mile 7 to 8.

Felt like I was flying past the Banner towards endcliffe park.

Its important to leave some "in the tank" after the hills.

Thanks for that Fudbeer..interesting

I am just coming back from a hamstring strain, but was looking to hold some back on the first 5 mile and then push for 7 - 7.30sec miles from then onwards.

Thats the way to do it imo.

Both me and my sister ran it that way and got times no slower than the old course.

Well, me and the OH finally entered last night. Onhol next week so I'll hopefully be doing plenty of running and no taper as such.

Tapering now. Did a 9 miler and a 12 miler this week with Mrs I1L2T3 who brutally put me through the wringer with a lot of hills. She ain't fast but she's a relentless hill running machine.

Nice one guys.

Tapering this week, a few gentle runs next week but struggling to find flatish routes round here as I prefer to train off road.

which way do you come back in for the finish from Eccy rd?

Looking at the map it isn't that clear?

Is it straight on Moore St> Charter Row and round the roundabout at the top of Furnival gate?

Thanks - I thought I saw some pictures of people running up The Moor but I maybe made it up or it was a different race.
