They could get a management duo of Mourinho and Guardiola and the chairman/men would still **** it up.

The contrast between the two Sheffield clubs at the moment is staggering.

To get out of division 1 you need a manager with a decent plan, and a bunch of players to commit to that plan. The players also have to work hard on the training ground and on the pitch during the match. That's why you see a lot of small clubs winning promotion.

The mistake that the Blades are making is believing that having the best players is enough to gain promotion.

You've got it.........players and managers..........the right ones that is.

Swings and roundabouts, 5 years ago it was the other way round, and in another 5 years it could easily have changed again for both teams.

To be honest, at the Lane they just need to get together and sort out what the problems are there - if it's disunity at board level, the manager misled when he signed, the manager making poor signings and not making the most of a playoff squad a year earlier, the players clocking off far too often... the attitude has to be addressed, there's a reason we've been down there for 5 years and they just need to all get on the same page and clear out those who are no longer fit for purpose, even if at a loss...the players don't look hungry like they did before, and the backbone of the side is so fragile.

For the owls, all looks rosy now, but if they don't go up, there are no guarantees you will be up there next season, and how the manager and owner deal with any real disquiet will be a test - they had a dodgy run at the start of the season, but the manager was still in the honeymoon period for most fans and was given time that others may not have been given.

If they go up though...sky's the limit then, look at what Leicester have achieved in a couple of seasons.

I totally agree and think it wouldnt take much to turn the blades into a force in league 1 but then if you make the championship without investment your going to struggle as we have.

Without the backing of the board chairman it will be years and years before any proper good comes as we both know.
