haime
Hi, I would like to get active with some company, painting and drawing. Venue would be no issue as we will meet at home, perhaps in a cafe first to chat of course. I like to be arty but don't want to extend time spent alone when I can share ideas and motivation. I just haven't met the individuals to do this yet and recently that is all. I have painted in a group before but it is hit and miss so it you have some keen interest in this? All media that is not too large initially. Landscape, storyboard, watercolour, still-life, portrait, illustration, caricature(not my style but perhaps related to cartoon which I do like), colourist, futurist, beaux arts (ambitious!?), other schools for style lessons. I am not looking for new existing clubs to join but any details of them may be the best option if they go out for days and are quite informal, open and friendly. I found one group to be immediate neighbourhood only and another to not be going for a painting day out except on maybe on the quiet. The aim is to be progressive and chatty and helpful to one and another.
Steptoad
You could try the Late Late Coffee Morning at the gallery at 35 Chapel Walk, Tuesdays, 6-8pm. It's an informal gathering of arty types and while we don't sit around creating art talk is talked, deals are done, friends are made, friends are met. It's all very informal and there is free drinks and biscuits too.

Little deals whereby artists can promote or sell their work?

haime
No-one was there on tuesday, well 6.20pm. This week anyway. That's 35 cafe. I am looking to not have a paid thing, to get good at art or at least try to. I paint and draw fairly wide subjects but of course liking other peoples work is not necessarily going to follow, good or poor. I think a persons flat/house by rota for the venue. So numbers are restricted but it's not exactly a flood of interest which doesn't surprise me as this is for people not already set up. ---------- Post added 21-02-2016 at 10:05 ---------- So no then. I will try again in 2 weeks or so. Still keen if one wishes to discuss by pm. I don't see the point in stating a venue when I said it would likely be houses and an informal meeting in a cafe first. So herbalharry, my idea was a home base. Don't know the cafe yet.
