Cyclone   10 #49 Posted February 2, 2016 Wow bamboo island looks so nice I will defonately be visiting that Xx ---------- Post added 02-02-2016 at 18:33 ----------  Ahh I'm really saddened to see the death caused by the elephant after reading the article and the comments it's really made me think twice about the elephant ride. Seeing the Tigers too but I feel that these have been some of the major events I wanted to do whilst in thiland. Ride on a elephant and see tigers feed the monkeys etc. I can't help but feeling that the negatives seem to out weigh the positives I'm frightened I might get drugs planted on me and I'll never see the kids again I just don't know Xx  Why would anyone give away good drugs by planting them on you?  And given the number of elephant rides and deaths that occur, you're more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the airport... Just keep things in perspective.  I had an elephant ride whilst I was there. Was okay, wouldn't bother again, but I guess that's easy to say when you've tried it already. cytine   40 #50 Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) Another thing to check out is the weather. The best time to go is Nov - Jan/Feb, it's still very hot but not as humid and you should avoid the monsoon rains then. Another tip we was given is to ask one of the hotel staff to write the hotel name and address in Thai and if you are going to a particular destination get the name in Thai and English. Not many taxi drivers speak English especially in Bangkok and agree a price before getting in. We found this useful. Whatever you decide you'll have a fabulous time and leave with some wonderful memories. Enjoy it. Herbalife   10 #51 Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) Lol I know sorry just got a bit frightened with the replys from some   ---------- Post added 08-02-2016 at 21:06 ----------  Hi only me again. I have almost managed to book everything however after much research it seems that may is the quieter period. I'm going the 1st of May I didn't know this when booking. Will it be quite in kata beach and phi phi? I wanted to go to Ko Lanta 10/05for 4 days but I have also read that the Ferrys stop to Ko Lanta saladan pier in May due to the season. Has anyone ever been? I don't want to book my hotel in KO Lanta and not be able to get there. Thanks guys Xx Edited February 8, 2016 by Herbalife
 Share this content via...

AmourDesign   10 #55 Posted May 24, 2016 Phi Phi was my favorite place. Was there on Christmas day.  If your gonna visit Maya Bay.....make sure you do the restricted night time tour where you sleep on the island over night. Only 20 people are allowed. Herbalife   10 #56 Posted May 24, 2016 I've been and come back haha I have to say phi phi was my least favourite place I liked maya bay and I liked meeting different folk which was traveling and passing through. However it was very commercialised absolutely nuts with bars and clubs on the beach and the morning after the beaches was trashed with beer bottles cans and mess. A real shame as in a few years time I can see this being party Central. Not for me unfortunately much preferred other parts of Thailand although I still really enjoyed it Xx
 Share this content via...

Phi Phi is busy but then we stayed in Kah Tao which was beautiful for a few days rest after we did the full moon party on NYE. blake   10 #59 Posted May 25, 2016 I can't wait to return loved KO lanta and kata beach  Ko Lanta gets many thousands of tourists each year. But I bet only a few of them ever realise that the island is about 70% Muslim. Something TAT keeps rather quiet about, except when they are advertising to tourists from the richer Muslim countries on the Gulf. In fact the whole area of southern Thailand gets more and more Muslim the further south you go and some islands and small towns and villages are very heavily Muslim.  even Phuket where Kata is has quite a lot of Muslims. About 40%.  many believe that the Thais undercount the number of Muslims in the country, and that the commonly quoted statistic that it is '95% Buddhist' is over the mark. Some think it is less than that and it is more like 85% nationwide.  overcounting like this is believed to happen in other SEAsian countries too. Malaysia overcounts the number of Muslims. And the Philippines overcounts the number of Catholics.
 Share this content via...
Herbalife   10 #60 Posted May 25, 2016 You can clearly see that Ko lanta is mostly Muslim. Totally different from anywhere else I visited very welcoming and they made me feel very much at ease I loved KO lanta and can't wait to return my favourite place.
 Share this content via...
