Going to Thailand late April best places to visit please.

Recommended Posts

Or perhaps it's not quite as obvious as you think Robbie.

I spent a week in Patong, during the water festival week. And as I already commented, most of the massage parlours (of which there are many) have big signs up specifically saying "no sex".

In a fortnight I had 8 massages I believe, and I wasn't even once asked if I wanted a happy ending.

Given that many of the massages are only "private" by virtue of a curtain I imagine that I could have heard if any other customers were getting more than a muscle rub!

You definitely want hotel rooms with air conditioning. Ours failed for 1 night and I barely slept (and got bitten that same night as I wasn't IN the bed).

The food and the massages were the best part of the experience for me. And the sea was so warm, nice to dive in.

Myself and my late husband have been to Pattaya and Phuket several times. Thailand is a fabulous place. But a word of warning: Stay clear of all drugs, penalties are severe for anything involving drugs, even for what is considered minor here will get you a prison sentence. Behave and you will have a wonderful time.

8 massages hey ;) you dirty dawg. Ha ha.

Only kidding.

I think perhaps your innocence to circumstances may have stopped you seeing certain aspects.

Either way we are going away from the point, I was merely reporting on what I'd been told. It doesn't make anyone a bad person or a sex cretin for going to these places, nor does it make the places any less nicer to visit.

Air conditioning as you say is a must, if you don't have it, you will be finding a new hotel the following day.

Sad to hear about the tourist killed by the "ride-on" elephant that turned on his mahout in Koh Samui.

Don't let it stop anyone going, but be careful out there.

This is a new development. I've heard of tourists being mauled by Thai Tigers before - that's happened a few times - but never by elephants. They're the Thai national animal.

The Thais get so many farang tourists these days it's hardly surprising fatigue has set in and that sometimes some of them can react unexpectedly.

The reason we're discussing this at all is someone said "avoid Phuket it's full of prostitutes and drugs". Which seems like ridiculous advice to me. It's one of the most popular tourist destinations.

Apologies, I didn't see anyone advise to avoid Phuket because of drugs or prositutes. Or even to avoid Phuket at all.

Perhaps you could point it out to me as I still can't see it? Much obliged.

By all accounts Phuket has a lot of prostituition, so we have avoided there.

Kho Lanta was a fantastic island, many things to do, good food and a decent enough sized island.

My mistake.

It was you, but you didn't say to avoid it, just that you HAD avoided it.

On the other hand, I went there. Yet you've spent the last several pages telling me that I was wrong, despite you NOT having been there, and me actually having been there... Funny that.

That's not very nice I haven't booked anything other than the flights as I have said.

They are the places that I have sat and pondered about for hours.

I'm just asking for advice I thought that was what this forum was for?

Ahh I'm really saddened to see the death caused by the elephant after reading the article and the comments it's really made me think twice about the elephant ride.

Seeing the Tigers too but I feel that these have been some of the major events I wanted to do whilst in thiland.

Ride on a elephant and see tigers feed the monkeys etc.

I can't help but feeling that the negatives seem to out weigh the positives

I'm frightened I might get drugs planted on me and I'll never see the kids again

I just don't know Xx

We went to Koh Samui 2 yrs ago and moved around, we booked a hotel before we went for the first few days then sorted the rest when we got there by physically looking at the places we had researched online. We then found it easier to use booking.com to book especially when there was the language barrier.

I'm sure you will have a great time and you'll find the total holiday cost will be much cheaper doing it the way you are.
