The Valv-A-Tron Sound System is a hand built all valve (or tube) amplifier driven reggae sound system

 

Until transistors became popular in the 1970s, all sound systems were built on valve technology. The ‘valve sound’ has a warmer and fuller sound that cannot be achieved with transistor amps.

 

Valv-A-Tron lovingly recreates the original sound of reggae music complimented by an all vinyl selection of period records and traditional sound man delivery

 

Valv-A-Tron creator and sound man Paul Axis, otherwise known as Dr.Huxtable started collecting Reggae 45s in the late 70's while playing in a band in Preston. Paul was also responsible for the valve PA system the band used, which eventually became the first incarnation of the Axis Sound System. In the early 80s, he ran a club in Preston called the Paradise Club, which hosted many sound system nights from sounds from all over the UK. This period forged his deep love for sound system and its authentic presentation.

 

Through the 90's, he continued to play his hand built sound and into the new millennium. In 2012, he decided to return to his all valve roots by building the Axis Valv-a-tron sound system, a combination of his earliest valve equipment and newly built valve amplifiers. Paul has played his own sound system in all corners of the UK over the years and as far as France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. For the very best in original vinyl from the golden years of Jamaican music, played on the most authentic sound system, there is only one VALV-A-TRON.

Dubcentral will be hosting the second room with selectors playing roots, dub , jungle, drum & bass & more.
