JFKvsNixon
I was reading Sheffield Online and saw this. I cannot believe that they only have one set of keys for the Hallamshire Hospital. The delay was probably caused by the porters/security having to gain access a second set of keys which were secured away in the hospital. bluecanary
Yes, I witnessed this on Monday morning. The problem also extended the hospital nursery. The poor staff were doing their best to entertain all the children in the playground until someone eventually turned up to let them in. Can't believe there are not systems in place to stop this kind of thing happening. Surely the NHS can stretch to more than one set of keys? Daven
I don't believe it's an issue of cost as much as security - the more sets of keys there are the more risk there is of abuse and a breach of security Having said that - it does seem there were some failings here. If no one could get into the hospital then presumably no one could get out which must be a fire risk at the least ? I would have thought that the main doors would be on a timer as they are at NGH ? I'm surprised there isnt a set of keys and security permanently on site. People stay there overnight. Yes your right failing that I'm sure we could have a whip round for a new set of keys for the hospital. It would only cost about £20.00 from a key cutting place tops. The issues applied to the outbuildings surrounding the hospital on Beech Hill Road and Claremont Crescent that close overnight, not the main RHH building, so no-one was locked in! Facebook says otherwise - states that the main entrance was locked..........and the multistorey car park. A failure in the system has been identified and measures will be put in place to ensure this never happens again. No one was hurt in any way. Lesson learned. Granma
Couldn't another set of keys be kept with the Police? Granma.
Mr Bloke
I wonder how long it will be before we now hear that all the locks at the hospital will need to be changed, at great expense to the NHS, because of a breach in the security process stating that the keys should never have been taken off-site? We'll also need to get some highly-paid consultant in to review the procedures to ensure that such an occurrence can never happen again! And of course the person responsible will also need several months off work and professional counselling to cope with this traumatic incident... Daven
Since it appears that no one on SF knows the full story I guess it is impossible to say.
