adambaz   10 #13 Posted April 20, 2006 Is your mother called Bob?  Maybe it was a 1 question type thing with my psychic ability eh.  Anywho...  This is a common problem with that mobo, something to do with a bad batch. You could try changing the CMOS battery as you suggested, but a bad battery would cause the clock to slow down if anything, definately not speed up.  Instead do the following.  1: Boot into the BIOS 2: Set FSB Spread Spectrum to Disabled. (should be on 0.50% at the moment) 3: Save and Exit 4: Enjoy the correct time.  Hope that helps.  Adam.
 Share this content via...
jd_sheff   10 #14 Posted April 20, 2006 My old PC used to keep time ok, but then suddenly only start keeping it while it was switched on! So it used to get months behind at times because I couldn't be bothered to keep re-setting it. Never found out why it happened though...  It would have been that the BIOS battery was flat and needed replacing. Think of it as like the battery backup in your Alarm Clock.
