El Cid 220 #1 Posted January 25, 2016 BBC may ask over-75s to give up free TV licence. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-35397783 When funding was withdrawn by our Government, it was just a way of withdrawing the free licence, without the bad press. They are very good at spinning there policies. I personally think that we give away too many freebies.
 Share this content via...

Cyclone 10 #3 Posted January 25, 2016 Its been free for me from day dot. I have never paid and never will. With any luck they'll prosecute you and you'll get a huge fine. (If you mean that you watch TV without having had a license, rather than just not watching any TV).
 Share this content via...

Cyclone 10 #6 Posted January 25, 2016 same here havent paid it for years, a biased, PC ,overstaffed and overpriced non service. Some here think it's okay to mug people in the street and take their money. Doesn't actually make it okay in the eyes of society though does it. Luck has no bearing on anything when dealing with the BBC. ---------- Post added 25-01-2016 at 11:29 ---------- Some here think it's okay to mug people in the street and take their money. Some people think its ok for Capita to mug the naive right on their door step. ---------- Post added 25-01-2016 at 11:31 ---------- same here havent paid it for years, a biased, PC ,overstaffed and overpriced non service. Dont forget all the BBC did to cover up the paedophiles working in its ranks. That alone has made several people i know decided to stop paying it. Eric Arthur 10 #8 Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) There's no legal requirement for anyone to pay the TV license if they don't watch live TV. What is astounding is that the BBC has the brass neck to ask over 75's to give up the free licence that the rules allow them. How much is Chris Evans paid again? Maybe our local newsagent could have a BBC donations tin on the counter next to the ones for guide dogs and spastics. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/medianews/article4673757.ece The BBC is planning to draft in “silver celebrities” to front a campaign encouraging the over-75s to give up their free TV licences. Stoned 10 #9 Posted January 25, 2016 Im sure these sliver celebs could easily pay their TV license and not even miss it. Rich people using guilt on people of far lesser wealth just so they can still earn what they do and not have to take a pay cut is just disgusting. hagrid 10 #12 Posted January 25, 2016 80 year old Mary Berry was on £50k, yes that is fifty thousand pounds per episode for the Bake Off. She is trying to get it going on ABC in the USA but sadly she has had to take a big pay cut and will only earn 15k each show. Ahhhh bless, how will she manage her weekly shop ?
