The Magic Half Way Mark..

Well the season is approx half way in and I thought I'd have a reflect on the progress of our local big two.

Sheffield Wednesday - After a strange close season with the managerial appointment seemingly dragging on forever, we ended up with a reative unknown in Carlos Carvalhal, many fans (myself included) had reservations due to his apparent track record and lack of knowledge of English football - how wrong we were, CC has turned out to be a gem and the fans and it appears press have warmed to him immensely, the players he's signed have mostly come good, the football is the best seen at S6 since perhaps big Rons days and the future looks very bright indeed with the chairman showing his intent in backing the manager.

Sheffield United - I think most fans wanted Nigel Clough out of his job due to some very negative tactics and ultimate failure to gain promotion, the signing of Adkins seemed a master stroke at the time - a man who had performed miracles in getting Southampton where they are today and a proven winner, the bookies made them promotion favourites. The question was would or even could the board at United back up their man with investement in the playing staff, it appears not as they were the last club in all the leagues to sign anyone......and it was Woolford, the first half of the season has been a bit of a let down, with some indifferent results, unattractive play and another transfer window winding down with not much of a show of activity yet again.

For the Owls promotion is looking a distinct possibility through either the play off (good chance) or automatic (slim but possible), for the blades a play off place at best looks about all they can aspire to and we know what happens then!!!!

Think we said anything close o sea to the playoffs and we,d be happy.

United expected to be in the top 2,still a chance but getting thinner.

no chance top 2 for them but plasyoffs again and probably for us can you imagine both Sheffield sides at wembley ?

Yes i agree play offs for both sheffield sides. On form over the last 7 games swfc and sufc have gained 15 and 14 points which quite simply is nowhere good enough to challenge for the top 2 places.

Might be a new sheffield floods dilema like 2007 again if we both fail !!!

But lets hope eh
