One Owl on the way back

Just wondering if there are any others feeling the same way as I do at the moment.

After a number of consecutive seasons as a Season Ticket holder, I let mine lapse at Hillsborough a couple of years ago.

I got to the point where the quality of football under Dave Jones was just shocking and the final straw was a game against Burnley in which they passed us off the park.

I continued going to half a dozen games a season, but the enthusiasm had gone and the football on display wasn’t bringing it back.

However, this season is a different beast. I’ve never been an advocate of needing big strong players and have always preferred footballers with good technique and brains and now with the likes of Bannan, Forestieri, Wallace and Lee we now have them after a long time when we didn’t.

So despite the fact I believe the cost of a Season Ticket at £410 to be outrageous, I think it’s time to come back and put my money where my mouth is and to get one of these for next season whatever division we’ll be in.

I guess if you want good footballers you have to expect to pay a high price for them, but I can’t help feeling sorry for those Wednesday fans that can’t afford these prices.

Is anyone else pondering coming back next season or this.

well one more wouldn't hurt in the stands as it looks a bit sparse on matchdays but think you are being somewhat of a glory hunter and i bet there are loads more like you, you should support us through thick and thin not when the going gets good like it is now

To suggest that supporting the club through "thick and thin" means you have to attend every match is nonsense, I've supported the club since '78 and had a season ticket from 1987-2000, with family/work/travel commitments etc a season ticket is no longer viable but I still follow the club with as much passion as I did back in Big Jacks days.

The OP said he stopped going because of the standard of football suggesting he has returned because it has improved.

Supporting a club through thick and thin DOES mean attending every game.

That is exactly what it means. It means going without other things to save the readies for a Season Ticket. It means arranging holidays/days out around the football calendar (preferably pre-season) and so on.

Others it's just attending when you feel like it...

I've been a season ticket holder for years and years.

Titanic's post is music to my ears. The more returning fans the better.

All the "true fans" on here moaning about glory hunting are missing the point. Football is entertainment. Prices are as expensive as high end theatre tickets. It is up to the clubs to provide entertainment that matches the ticket price. Wednesday are certainly doing that this year.

Welcome back, Titanic. I hope that many more people follow you.
