PopT Â Â 10 #1 Posted January 18, 2016 i have been looking at the electoral registers for the area & some family are listed as living at Little Matlock, others at High Matlock & others at Greaves Lane. Can anyone tell me the difference in these locations, I can guess but I do not want to record them as living in the wrong places. Help appreciated. Â Popt Happy Days! hillsbro   30 #2 Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) Hi PopT - a map of 1901-03, and earlier ones, show High Matlock only as the name of a farm or small group of buildings a short distance from the Robin Hood Inn, though I imagine High Matlock might have comprised a slightly larger area on the south side of the valley. PopT Â Â 10 #3 Posted January 19, 2016 Many thanks for the copy of the old map of the area Phillip. It clearly shows the different areas. I was told the one time owners of the Gannister Mines lived at High Matlock. Due to the number of miners living in Huts, railway carriages & even tents ,many of them do not appear on the records. With this map at least I can see the different areas where some of my ancestors lived. Â Happy Days! PopT
 Share this content via...
hillsbro   30 #4 Posted January 19, 2016 The map came from the National Library of Scotland website http://maps.nls.uk/, a very useful resource. Here is a link to an 1890 map on the site.
 Share this content via...
